Bionica has been designing and manufacturing CNC packages, robotics and manufacturing solutions for over ten years. Our offering ranges from desktop 3 and 4 axis CNC milling machines through to fully automated production rate manufacturing solutions. Our team is made up of highly experienced engineers from a wide array of backgrounds. We offer a full design and manufacturing service for bespoke special projects where our core product range does not suit the end user requirements.
Noticing a flood of machinery built in the Far East, Bionica fills the gap of quality machinery from a British supplier: the benefits to end customers being build quality, accuracy, availability of spare parts, installation and client training, ability to provide instant technical support and dispatch engineers to fulfil onsite requirements to name but a few.
Bionica Systems has now sold its products to over 3000 customers including Airbus, which Bionica says confirmed to them that “we are building equipment that serves the best and yet affordable by most”.
Bolstered by the success of its current range, Bionica Systems will now focus on launching a range of laser machines and expanding into the European market.
Founded by James Marchant.
Young Gun 2018-2019.
In amongst all the futuristic ideas on this year’s Young Guns list, Bionica sounds like something of a throwback at first. It manufactures CNC machines, manufacturing tools essentially used to fabricate wood, metal, plastics & other materials.
But it soon becomes apparent that Bionica is at the cutting-edge – literally and figuratively.
Its suite of computer-guided products includes robotics, laser and plasma products, and founder James Marchant is one of Britain’s most disruptive manufacturing entrepreneurs, having previously built the largest manufacturer of desktop 3D printers in Europe.
That business, Ion Core Zinter, gave Marchant the ideal launchpad to start Bionica, and it’s proved an inspired decision. The company came 41st in this year’s Startups 100 index and already has more than 3000 customers across the UK, Europe and further afield ranging from small businesses through to world-famous PLCs such as Nissan, Renishaw, Airbus and Jaguar Land Rover.
Targeting £10m turnover in 2019, Marchant is also planning to open an office in Northern Europe to service surrounding European countries, increase the staff base and further diversify the product offering.
Experienced in taking new ventures from inception through to scale and growth, Marchant has over the past 10 years, raised over £50m in equity finance for his own projects and whilst assisting others.
Marchant is an active member of the West Country 100 Business faction of the Royal Marines Charity and Technology Advisor to the British Government.
We can expect him to continue leaving his own very distinct mark on the manufacturing industry and UK business community over the years to come.
“British engineering excellence. The very best design, build and support is core to our philosophy here at Bionica. We are building tools that are relied upon for our client's businesses and it is vital that our products and services reflect this.”
